A Fairy Tale Ending?

The goal of this website is to expose the potentially-damaging effects of the Disney Princess movies on young girls and boys. Although the explicitly derogatory and distasteful messages in Disney Princess movies are more pertinent and prevalent earlier in the 20th century, and Disney has since attempted to improve their depictions in more recent films, unfortunately, these subliminal messages still exist in the present day movies such as Maleficent, Beauty and the Beast, and Cinderella. This subversive content represents social norms, expected body image, and inappropriate depictions of race and gender that have affected/will affect the ways children -spanning generations – have interacted/interact with individuals of other identities. Although Disney Princesses are beloved and nostalgic figures, it is important to reveal and deconstruct how these role models can have negative, lasting effects on viewers.

Thank you for visiting our site and we hope you enjoyed it!
