Week 12 Day 2 Discussion Question 2

Mark Wildermuth discusses how the 1962 film version of The Manchurian Candidate mediated anxieties about the feminizing impact of commercial television.  He writes:

Its sexist tropeā€¦links the feminine with mass media[,] reflect[ing] a fear that in such a mediated culture, boundaries of public and private, real and unreal, masculine and feminine will disappear along with the now denatured and similarly deconstructed figures of space, context, and identity. Are you persuaded by Wildermuth’s insight?  How does the 2004 film also align the feminine with mass media?
