Week 3 Day 1 Discussion Question 3

Arthur Miller and Elia Kazan, close friends and collaborators prior to the HUAC investigations, took opposite approaches in their HUAC testimony; each also depicted their views of the anti-Communist witch-hunt in their work.  Which portrayal of the HUAC hearings do you find more persuasive, The Crucible or On the Waterfront?  Why?

Also, do you feel that Kazan’s film and Miller’s play have stood the test of time equally?  Why or why not?
