In this post we’ll introduce you to three new members of the Middlebury College staff who are working in the Admissions and Language Schools offices. Please join us as we welcome Karen, Niki, and Brook to campus.
Karen Bartlett was originally hired as a seasonal application reader in the Admissions office in 2009. We welcomed her back to campus in September in her new role as an Admissions counselor. Karen and her husband Jud graduated from Middlebury in 1995 and spent 10 years living in New Hampshire where Karen was a teacher and a college counselor. An active volunteer in Cornwall’s farm to school program, Karen enjoys gardening, volunteering, skiing, and windsurfing.
Niki Barron was hired as the assistant director of Admissions in September. Prior to coming to Middlebury Niki was an admissions officer at Barnard College from 2007 to 2011. Niki graduated from Hamilton College in 2002 where she majored in mathematics. From 2002 to 2006 she worked in the admissions office at Grinnell College. In addition, Niki earned a master’s degree in education in 2007 from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Brook Escobedo returns to Middlebury College as the associate director of marketing, recruitment and admissions in the Language Schools. Brook previously worked in the admissions office and graduated from the Spanish School in 2004. She most recently worked at an educational non-profit in Austin, Texas. She is looking forward to reconnecting with the Middlebury community, cheering on the basketball team, and snowboarding with her husband, Manuel Carballo, who also works at Middlebury as the director of Admissions.
