The Finance Function in Nonprofit and Public Organizations Financial Management Best Practice: Accountability. Upward, downward, formal and informal accountability and Education Service Delivery illustrated by the dialogue between two different characters-one from NPO Utopia, the other from Dystopia. I specifically chose these names for the characters to illustrate two extremes within the best practice of accountability. True accountability, however, is an ongoing learning process which cannot be perfected and must be constantly balanced to address realities of all stakeholder needs. HOPE- Helping Our Peninsula’s Environment The Finance Function in Nonprofit and Public Organizations- An action research project with financial consultancy. An organizational needs assessment was provided, which addressed the organization’s need for a fundraising strategy. This resulted in the creation of a financial management tracking system that was implementable and easy to use. An organizational sustainability analysis and assessment of the Monterey Jazz Festival’s Music Educational Programs was provided, with a specific focus on the social impact their music education programs. - An analysis of how C.E.O. Women seeks to achieve their vision and of its sustainability. This analysis includes: vision and preconditions, a value proposition using the Hedgehog Concept matrix, outlining the organization’s core competencies, passion, expertise, and resource, a value curve framework that illustrates the organization’s programs, organizational support systems using the Ansoff Matrix that analyzes the organization’s funding source as well as a strategic allies analysis.
