Welcome to sites.middlebury.edu, Middlebury’s WordPress-based, self-service, website creation space. This is a place where anyone with an active Middlebury account can build a site for their personal writing, project, course, research, group, club, organization, or anything else. You won’t need to install or maintain anything and your site will be upgraded for you to introduce new features and keep it secure.
Getting Started
If you are an instructor who would like to create a new site for your course, please see our guide to adding a WordPress resource through the Course Hub.
For all other sites, you can log in to sites.middlebury.edu and then follow these steps to create a new site on the network.
Supported by Middlebury ITS
The sites.middlebury.edu WordPress network is supported by Middlebury’s Information Technology Services staff. You can view our documentation on how to use this service and contact us with any questions or support requests by opening a ticket.
Hosted by CampusPress
Middlebury has partnered with CampusPress to host this service. CampusPress provides a set of plugins and themes which they’ve vetted. They also provide an extensive knowledge base on how to use the service.
Alternative: MiddCreate
Middlebury’s DLINQ group supports middcreate.net, another tool we make available for self-service website creation. With sites.middlebury.edu, many themes and plugins are pre-installed for you to use and we keep them and the core platform up-to-date for you. On MiddCreate, you start with a basic setup and then can install whichever features you need, but you’re responsible for the installation and maintenance of those features. MiddCreate also allows you to continue hosting your site if you leave Middlebury, for a fee. Please contact support@middcreate.net with any questions about this service.
