Fundamentals of GIS

Since 1987, the Geography Department has offered the only introductory GIS course for students at Middlebury College. In its current form, Geography 120: Fundamentals of Geographic Information Systems is a required course for majors in the Geography Department and Program for Environmental Studies. It is also popular as an elective for students in other departments, including Computer Science, Geology, and Biology. The course blends classroom and online instruction and introduces students to general and specific concepts of GIS through problem solving. The syllabus for fall 2014 can be found here.
