The College’s Environmental Council has been researching ridesharing programs to help meet the transportation needs of our staff, faculty, and students in order to help save commuters money, offer more choice for those without a car, and to reduce our carbon footprint.
We have decided to work with GoVermont – a Vermont based system with already 4,000 registered users (35 percent of those in Addison County). Check out their web page at http://www.connectingcommuters.org/! Anyone can create an account at any time to register a regular commute that they would like to carpool on, or to register a single trip need. Groups of people coming to Middlebury from the same location can also take advantage of the vanpooling options offered through GoVermont.
GoVermont is working on developing their software over the summer to make it even more user friendly (including integration with social media applications), so they would appreciate any comments that would help their system better meet your needs.
We will be formally marketing our partnership with GoVermont to the college community in the fall, but we’d encourage anyone interested in carpool or vanpooling over the summer to register today!
