This is a reminder that we will be turning off our old Cisco wi-fi network  Friday August 31st at 5pm. After that time access to the campus wireless network will only be available through the new miis wireless network. Once we take this step, we will see improved performance from the new network, since the two sets of access points won’t be fighting each other  for control of the airspace.

If you are still using MIISAE, MIISPDA or MIISMAC and have not yet re-configured your laptop to the new miis wi-fi network, you will find that you are no longer connected to the wireless network after 5pm Friday.

To reconfigure your laptop or mobile device to the new miis wireless network, please follow these simple instructions, or follow the specific instructions for your device in one of the links below.

1. Find your wi-fi setup screen on your device. This is normally found in the settings or system preferences area, or by right-clicking on your Windows or Mac tray icons.

2. Under available wi-fi networks choose the new “miis” network.

3. When prompted, enter your MIIS email account (the part before @miis.edu).

4. Enter your email password.

5. If prompted, accept the security certificate.

Most newer Window 7 laptops, Mac laptops, iPhones, iPads, and many Android mobile devices should work with the above instructions.

If you find the above instructions do not work, please check out one of the links below. If you are using a Windows XP or older laptop you should plan to visit one of the locations mentioned below.

If you still find that you are unable to connect to the new MIIS wireless network, please stop by the ITS Department office during regular business hours. Please ensure that any laptop brought on campus has up-to-date virus protection installed and has all system updates installed. Laptops showing signs of a virus will not be allowed on the wireless network, until the virus is removed. STS and ITS staff cannot remove viruses on personal laptops. This should be done through any number of local computer stores. If you have questions about the new MIIS wireless network please contact the ITS Help Desk at 831-647-6656.
