WINTER COMMENCEMENT 2010

SATURDAY DECEMBER 11, 1 P.M.
GOLDEN STATE THEATRE

CALLING NON-GRADUATING STUDENTS, STAFF, FACULTY, ALUMNI, FRIENDS, FAMILY, OR OTHERS YOU KNOW WHO MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING FOR WINTER COMMENCEMENT.

WE WILL GRACIOUSLY ACCEPT YOUR HELP!

We are in need of volunteers in all areas to help make this day a success for our graduates!  Volunteering is a great way to honor and appreciate our graduates for their hard work and accomplishments.

There are several areas you can choose to volunteer in with different time requirements and duties as described below:
1) Setup/Decor:  Saturday morning hours (10 – 11:30 a.m.) to help decorate with balloons at Samson.  We also need help during the week beginning on 11/29 – 12/7 to make the evergreen boughs to decorate Samson (M-F hours are flexible based on your availability, just let us know when you could work to help make the boughs)
2) Ushering: Must attend 1 hour briefing that week (date/time TBD).  Saturday morning hours beginning at 10:00am until 2:15pm to pass out programs, assist guests to their seats, keep aisles clear, and help to manage crowd flow.
3) Beverage workers (champagne poppers): Saturday afternoon at the reception held at the Samson Center (1:45pm – 4:30pm).  Pop open champagne bottles and serve champagne.  Serve non-alcoholic beverages including water and sparkling cider. Assist with bar cleanup.
4) Food Servers:  Saturday afternoon at the reception held at the Samson Center (1:45pm – 4:30pm).  Walk around and pass hors d’oeuvres and champagne to the guests. Assist with cleanup.
5) Flag Bearers: Must attend the one hour rehearsal on Saturday, December 11 before the procession at approximately 10 a.m.  You will carry a flag in the procession from campus to the Golden State Theater and onto the stage.  A seat will be reserved for you at the ceremony if you choose to carry a flag and wish to stay for the ceremony.  Please sign up to carry a flag at the Student Affairs Office.
