SANTIAGO (Santiago Times) According to Chile’s financial press, Endesa, a Spain-based multinational company, discarded a plan to build three hydroelectric dams on the river Futaleufú in the northern Patagonian region of Los Lagos.
NGO Futaleufú Riverkeeper had fought against the project since its inception, but director Robert Currie warned that the dispute wasn’t over as Endesa still owns rights to parts of the fast-flowing trans-Andean river.
