The Worldwide iPhone Impact

Change is something that’s very hard to do these days. To change something so big, like the GDP of a country for example or a whole generation of technology, would require a bigger and grander catalyst. But then again, that’s not always the case. Sometimes, it only takes one good person or thing to actually make big changes in the world. Take Mother Teresa of Calcutta for example. She singlehandedly created a congregation in India to care for the needy and did missionary work on her own. Another great example is Nikola Tesla who experimented on many theories and inventions that paved the way for many scientists and inventors. Meanwhile, in the world of technology, one company managed to change the way people look at and use consumer electronics in such a way that it greatly impacted the world.

How the iPhone Changed the World

It has been noted that the original iPhone which was released in 2007, was actually the first mobile phone that had a slate, touchscreen design. Before the iPhone, the most common design factors were flip phones and PDAs. But then Apple Inc., a predominantly computer hardware and software company, released a mobile phone that used touchscreen technology as a whole. Today, you’ll hardly see any mobile phone in the market with keypads (except of course for the BlackBerry franchise though they are slowly moving forward to touchscreen phones now). The iPhone also paved the way for phone manufacturers to recreate the mobile device experience by labeling the modern cell phone a smartphone. Now, people can have a portable PC, a gaming console, a camera, a multimedia device and a mobile browsing gadget fit right inside their pocket.

How the iPhone Is Changing the World

Aside from its contributions to the tech world, the iPhone also made big waves in the economy of the United States as well as in other countries were Apple products have been distributed. This is due to the fact that the tech giant managed to sustain a big demand for the iPhone from the day it was released in 2007 up until today. Such was the following they created for the smartphone that for its succeeding iPhone models (iPhone 3GS, 4 and 4S) they were able to surpass the expectations set by economists. The iPhone 3GS outperformed its competitors in 2009 by beating the expected 0.5% of retail sales with an increase of 1.22%. The iPhone 4, released in 2012, also won over economists after they predicted that the iPhone would experience a 0.3% fall for sales but it turned out to be a 0.3 percent increase. For the iPhone 4S, meanwhile, economists predicted that it would achieve a 0.1% increase in sales. But when Apple released the iPhone 4S in 2011, they made 0.93% increase in sales. Because of their giant success with the mobile phone, Apple has been hailed as one of the most admired companies in the world and was also one of the top five companies in 2012. This technological success also affected the GDPs in several countries including the U.S. and China. Early this year, the iPhone was pointed out as one of the key factors that helped boost the company’s exports and trade activities.

How the iPhone Could Change the World

With the iPhone’s ever-strong presence in the smartphone community, many tech experts agree that there’s more that the iPhone can offer the world if the right opportunities come along. For one thing, tech alphas agree that Apple is taking the right path to success by incorporating 4G LTE connectivity in the iPhone 5. This is a signal of better platforms for users and can also help strengthen and improve 4G technology in the world. Revolutionary features like Siri, a personal, digital assistant first introduced in the iPhone 4S, can also pave the way for smarter technologies like voice-activated security features and even artificial intelligence. With all these possibilities, tech companies like Apple are now left with millions of ways to give the world something new. We better watch out for what’s next with the iPhone!
