In the real world, more and more people & companies inside translation and localization industry have been using translation management system to help automate this workflow. Today I am going to talk about a “mock” case using Worldserver.

TBD Original group project using Worldserver
Project scenario
First of all, me and my group members came up with the scenario we want to work for.
In our scenario, we are going to play the role of a Language Service Provider (name TBD Original).
About us: TBD original is a company dedicated to providing accurate and high quality translation services to our clients. In addition to basic TEP services, we also provide translation memory development, terminology database creation, QA and DTP services all to meet the standards and requirements of our clients.
Project Specifications:

- Language pair: English > Chinese (Simplified)
Goals: To provide professional translation services, including translation memory improvement, terminology creation, translation, editing, proofreading etc. and to produce a translation piece that meets all the requirements that the client has.

There are several things you need to include in a proposal:
- project timeline
No matter what project you are doing and no matter what industry you are in, when you are talking with the client or your boss to get approval of a project, you need to let them clearly know about how much estimated time you need to complete it.
- Quote
Based on common sense, for the quote given to your client before you even meet each other. And according to the information we have, we give an estimation of how much it might cost. But keep in mind, the goal might change after you meet with your client.

Confirming all these points before the project even starts has a lot of advantages for both the client and ourselves. The client can stop worrying about the output is not what they want, and we don’t have to worry about starting the work all over again before the due because of customer not satisfying about all the points we mentioned above.

- Timelines: Think about the future!
Try to think ahead before you meet you client. You might want to anticipate what your client may ask for and provide them with a solution or an answer. So Instead of smiling at your clients at a loss, plan ahead for the future projects before the meeting!

- Worldserver doesn’t support ANY other file type except txt when uploading text.
- Where to put the updated TM and TD? Single updated location is a flaw.
