Can Do Shearing

Along with raising her own flock of sheep in Tunbridge, Mary works as a butcher and a shearer, traveling the northeast to shear hundreds of sheep each year. On her farm, she raises Icelandic sheep and sells meat, sheepskins, wool, and breed stock. Mary enjoys fostering relationships with other farmers through her services and work with the Vermont Sheep and Goat Association and Rural Vermont. She is drawn to the physicality of shearing and loves how it requires reading sheep and communicating with them. Mary is passionate about the humane treatment of animals and employs humane handling techniques while shearing and butchering. She works to educate about these skills and philosophies. She is the mother of two young kids, and they love joining her on some shearing jobs.
