U.S. Department of State – Office of Language Services
The Office of Language Services carries on a tradition of language support for the conduct of foreign policy that dates back to 1789, when it was founded by Thomas Jefferson, the first Secretary of State of the United States of America.
Our small cadre of civil service diplomatic interpreters, translators, and project managers is augmented by hundreds of carefully tested and vetted independent contract interpreters and translators to ensure support in every language required by the White House, the State Department, and other federal agencies.
This roster of freelance interpreters and translators is indispensable to our mission of supporting the conduct of diplomacy and foreign affairs, as well as foreign assistance and exchange programs.

The PCT Translation Division of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) organizes a Fellowship Program for assistant terminologists, translators, technical specialists, and translation technologists, with the aim of providing on-the-job experience at an international organization.
