Travel Insurance

Health Insurance
All MIIS students must have health insurance that covers them while abroad, as well as medical evacuation insurance of at least $500,000 USD and repatriation insurance of $100,000 USD. Students insured through the MIIS student plan have appropriate medical coverage for the TESOL Immersive Learning program. Any students not insured through the university should check with their insurance provider to see if they are covered abroad.

One option for travel insurance frequently utilized by MIIS students is GeoBlue, which offers plans for typically less than $65 per month. Alternative travel insurance providers endorsed by NAFSA can be found here.

Middlebury has an agreement with Global Rescue for medical and security evacuation services for MIIS students and faculty on university-sponsored activities abroad. If you find yourself in need of either of these services while in Costa Rica, contact Global Rescue at +1-617-459-4200 or operations@globalrescue.com and identify yourself as a Middlebury/MIIS traveler.
