Middlebury Natural Foods Co-Op (a.k.a spending all your paycheck on organic hummus)
I walk out of the co-op with a theoretically lighter wallet (I paid with a card).
In my bag is organic red pepper hummus, blue corn tortilla chips, and a large glass bottle of Saratoga spring water. I also bought my weight in almonds.
The Middlebury Natural Foods Co-Op has been an institution in America’s favorite small town since the early seventies. Located on Washington Street, next to Middlebury Bagel. A great one-two punch is a delicious freshly baked donut from the Midd Bagel, and a freshly squeezed juice from the Co-Op. In front of the store are picnic tables. When not covered with snow, they are a great place to rest and take in the humming activity in Middlebury’s quaint downtown area.
Inside are a wide variety of items, everything you would find at “normal” grocery store. In addition are a wide variety of teas, coffees, and specialty items. A major feature of the store is the Natural Foods Cafe, which serves sandwiches, smoothies, and fun baked goods. There is something for every person, even for those that have never been acquainted with the organic foods movement.
