2024 Summer Undergraduate Fellow Spotlight: Madelyn Fackler

Madelyn Fackler is a rising senior at the University of Georgia, majoring in International Affairs and minoring in English and German. Throughout her studies, Madelyn’s initial interest in environmental policy has developed into a passion for nuclear politics and threat reduction. Seeking an integrative understanding of social and state interactions, she studied repression and human rights abroad in Ireland. She also studied foreign policy decision making and war and human security at Oxford University. At UGA, she is a Richard B. Russell Security Leadership Fellow, and she is the President of the Phi Kappa Literary Society, a historic debate organization on campus. She hopes to pursue further studies in diplomacy, arms control, and WMD nonproliferation. Madelyn is also interested in researching the impacts of democratic erosion on international nuclear tensions. In her free time, Madelyn loves to read, roller skate, solo travel, and do the New York Times crossword.
