Jessica Sobieski is a third-year student at the University of Georgia majoring in International Affairs and Russian. She is an active member and former ambassador of the Russian Flagship Program, through which she has traveled to Hawai’i, D.C., Estonia, the Czech Republic, Latvia, and Sweden to study the sociopolitical landscape of formerly Soviet spaces and Russia. In December of 2023, she was selected as the North American Youth Representative to UNCAC COSP10. Joined by a youth representative from each continent, she spoke out against corruption in international aid payments. She worked at the Carter Center under the Conflict Resolution Internship Program, focusing on Russian politics in Syria. Additionally, she has worked as a Russia Studies Intern at the Council on Foreign Relations, where she researched Russian legal compliance to international security treaties. Her research interests include transatlantic security cooperation, Russian grand strategy, and transnational crime organizations.
