2025 Summer Undergraduate Fellow Spotlight: Hannah Lee

Hannah Lee is a rising third-year at the University of Georgia (UGA) majoring in international affairs and public relations. At UGA, she is a Security Leadership Program fellow at the Benson-Bertsch Center for International Trade and Security. Through the program, she has written policy briefs on U.S. space interests, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies. With Professor Jangai Jap’s guidance, she is conducting an independent research project on religious actors in Southeast Asia and their role in authoritarian regimes. Hannah hopes her study will add insight into when religious actors become involved in politics. Additionally, she codes Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) litigation for a National Science Foundation (NSF)-funded project to build a database addressing FOIA resource challenges. Beyond UGA, Hannah interns with the Department of State through the Virtual Student Federal Service Program. She supports the press and public diplomacy team at the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs. Through CNS, she seeks to understand global perspectives on disarmament and pursue research on nuclear norms and arms control. In her free time, she enjoys trying new coffee places in Athens, GA, and playing guitar. After graduation, Hannah intends to pursue higher education and enter a career in public service.
