2024 Summer Undergraduate Fellow Spotlight: Yuzhe (Oliver) Song

Yuzhe (Oliver) Song is a rising senior at Middlebury College, Vermont. He is pursuing a double major in International Politics & Economics (IPE) and Russian. Oliver is originally from Zhengzhou, China. He has been studying in the US since high school: he first attended the McCallie school in Chattanooga, TN and now at Middlebury College in Vermont. During the fall of 2023, Oliver also spent a semester abroad in Astana, Kazakhstan. As a Chinese student who has spent the bulk of his education career outside of his home country, the US and Kazakhstan, Oliver is deeply interested in global affairs, especially security issues. He is determined to dedicate his life to preserve peace and prosperity for the international community. In the 2024 spring semester, Oliver took a class on American Foreign Policy and had the opportunity to learn more about nonproliferation issues. He is looking forward to learning more about the subject and getting to know like-minded peers through the Summer Undergraduate Nonproliferation Fellowship Program. Outside of the classroom, Oliver is deeply involved with the Middlebury Rowing Club, SPUTNIK (Middlebury’s Russian club), and Language in Motion program at the Center for Community Engagement.
