In this class, which I took as part during my first semester at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, I have learned:
- How to manage translation and localization projects.
- How a typical localization agency works by working in a simulated company with classmates.
- How to calculate project timelines and schedules, and how to optimize the critical path.
- The difference between a quote and estimate, and how to create them for clients.
- How to evaluate and hire qualified translators and resources.
- How to communicate more efficiently via email, phone calls and in meetings.
- How to use XTRF (TMS) to manage localization and translation projects.
- How to perform Quality Assurance.
- How to problem-solve and manage issues that arise during a localization project.
Here‘s a link to my final project, in which my team and I localized an In-N-Out Word Document into Spanish, German, French, Italian, Korean, and Mandarin Chinese.
