In this class, which I took as part of my first semester at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, I have learned:
- How to create, customize and localize Content Management Systems (WordPress and Drupal) and static websites.
- How to customize HTML and CSS.
- How to use a CAT tool (specifically SmartCAT) to translate a website.
- JavaScript localization and internationalization.
- How Search-Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques affect website localization.
- How proxy website technology can simplify website localization.
- How to look at website localization from several different angles: as a project manager within a company, a program manager and a localization engineer within an agency, and as a translator.
Here‘s a link to my final project, in which I localized a professional photography website into Italian, Russian, and Chinese.
