Metacognitive

  1. Students will be aware of different learning strategies related to language learning through content.
  2. Students will create goals to monitor and record their English learning progress and will take responsibility for their learning.

Cognitive

  1. Students will be able to understand vocabulary and sentence structures related to the global and local environment.
  2. Students will understand the connections between their local environment and larger global ecosystems.

Performative

  1. Students will be able to use English to effectively and appropriately communicate issues related to environmental topics: natural habitats, endangered and local animals, conservation, and recycling.
  2. Students will be able to use English to complete service-learning activities.
  3. Students will create promotional eco-tourist materials for Nicaragua.

Affective

  1. Students will enjoy English learning through content-based, hands-on projects and games.
  2. Students will feel prepared and confident in discussing local and global environmental issues with English speakers.
  3. Students will feel motivated to encourage others to learn and investigate these environmental issues to promote greater awareness and change within the community.
