- Students will add one new tool or procedure for monitoring their own learning.

- Students will understand (some ways) their community is part of a larger world community for example their location in the world relative to the globe.

- Students will be able to identify and explain features on a physical map of the world.
- Students will be able to identify different locations based on directional vocabulary with appropriate prepositions of place.
- Affective
- Students will begin to develop a feeling of responsibility and connectedness for the Earth and its inhabitants.
Natural Habitats Around the World
Unit Objectives:
- Metacognitive
- Students will incorporate new tools and procedures to reflect on and monitor their own learning
- Cognitive
- Students will understand that the environment they live in is one of many different natural habitats found throughout the world.
- Students will understand that each of these habitats has its own unique features and climate.
- Performative
- Students will be able to identify and explain the features of different natural habitats using vocabulary that includes descriptive adjectives of weather and concrete nouns of animals and objects.
- Students will be able to ask and answer questions about the weather and different habitats using appropriate numbers, nouns and adjectives.
- Affective
- Students will begin to develop a feeling of responsibility and connectedness for the Earth and its inhabitants.
- Students will feel comfortable and motivated to collaborate with others in a shared-learning environment.
Conservation of Water

Unit Objectives:
- Metacognitive
- Students will continue to monitor their English learning utilizing their English Learner Dictionaries.
- Cognitive
- Students will understand the differences between bodies of water
- Students will understand that pollution damages water habitats and the animals that live there
- Students will understand the importance of water conservation
- Performative
- Students will be able to identify different bodies of water on a map (river, lake, ocean)
- Students will be able to describe features of different bodies of water
- Students will be able to name and identify different plants and animals found in a water habitat
- Students will be able to describe the effects of pollution on water habitats
- Affective
- Students will feel motivated to encourage others to learn and investigate environmental issues related to water and promote greater awareness of water conservation
- Students will feel comfortable sharing their ideas in a collaborative group-work settings
