Ben Morris ’22 Awarded Keasbey Scholarship

Congratulations to Ben Morris ’22 who recently received a Keasbey Scholarship to support graduate study at Cambridge University! Ben is a senior Molecular Biology and Biochemistry major at Middlebury. With the support of the Keasbey, Ben will pursue a research-based master’s degree in Pathology, studying immune regulation in inflammation and cancer in Dr. Rahul Roychoudhuri’s lab at Cambridge. Exploring Grad School in the UK? TH!NKUK Online Sessions March 16-18

On March 16-18, a group of 34 UK universities will collaboratively offer a range of online sessions for North American students and advisors interested in UK graduate study.

TH!NKUK will be the largest scale event organised specifically for North America, bringing England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland higher education at your fingertips.

We welcome students and advisors to our general and subject specific sessions, and we will also be offering opportunities for participants to connect with universities in 1-2-1 sessions.

What’s Included:

  • Academic Panel Sessions: these give insight into specific subject areas and involve our faculty
  • Student/Alumni Panels: hear from current North America students studying at universities in the UK, and ask questions about their experiences
  • General Sessions: Co-presented by university reps – are designed to give you information on studying in the UK and how to apply
  • University Intros: Each participating university will be offering a 10 minute introduction part of a group. Join these sessions to discover unique features and get general information about universities in UK

Virtual Tour of UK Universities

Beginning Monday, June 1st from 12:00-1:00 pm (EST), 9:00 am (PST) and throughout the summer, our lovely UK hosts will be offering Marshall Mondays Brunch & Learn virtual tour sessions, to include an introduction to top university programs, short lectures, meetings with post-graduate Fulbright & Marshall Scholars and closing with a Q&A session. The Virtual Tour will be hosted on the Zoom meeting platform. UK, Watson, Fulbright Info Sessions 2/18 and 2/20

The fellowships office is holding two information sessions:

2/18 at 4:30pm in Library 201: Learn about fellowships to the UK and Ireland! These include the Churchill, Gates-Cambridge, Marshall, Mitchell, Rhodes and St. Andrews. Many require nomination by Middlebury to apply. Learn about the fellowships and the applications processes.

2/20 at 4:30pm in Axinn 232: Learn more about the Fulbright and Watson fellowships–what they are, how to apply and more.

NIH Oxford-Cambridge Scholars Program & NIH MD/PhD Partnership Training Program Application Opens Aug 1

The application portal opens August 1, 2018!

These programs are looking for outstanding scholars who wish to pursue a PhD or MD/PhD through an accelerated, interdisciplinary, collaborative biomedical research program. The program is based on the British system, in which students perform doctoral research without required formal courses other than those students choose to take in relationship to their own interests. Students selected for admission to the program have already developed a passion for science through engagement in summer, job related, or undergraduate research programs. These programs provide a unique training opportunity at the largest biomedical research facility in the world.

Basic application requirements as follows: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree (minimum)
  • GRE and/or MCAT scores
  • US Citizen or permanent resident
