The Stream is the blog for the Middlebury School of the Environment.
The concept of a stream is the perfect metaphor for what we seek to achieve with this blog. Streams are ecological and cultural connectors, critical for linking all kinds of communities, human and non-human alike. Streams are where people and animals come to play and be sustained. Streams are contested in political and legal spheres because of the critical importance of water for sustaining life, industry, and economy. And streams are the basis of powerful metaphors associated with sustained thinking, as in “stream of consciousness” and “stream of thought.”
The Stream is a place to learn about the School of the Environment, enjoy community, and engage with others on some of the most critical issues … and solutions … for the years to come.
