Veterans who served in Iraq or Afghanistan are now eligible for full tuition educational benefits at the Monterey Institute.  The Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program, or Yellow Ribbon Program, is a provision of the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008. For details on our participation.

MIIS aims to bring as many as 40 officers to our campus next year.  Regina Lomboy, Director of Financial Aid, inked the cooperative agreement with the Veterans Administration last month.

Not every private institution has partnered with the VA to offer full benefits. MIIS is one of the few private graduate schools providing this generous package to veterans and was noted in the Los Angeles Times.

Jill Stoffers and her team in the MIIS Recruiting Department have been busily promoting the partnership through online marketing, career fairs and outreach to veterans organizations.  “The veterans we spoke with were truly impressed that the Monterey Institute was one of the first educational institutions to provide full tuition coverage.” explained Devin Lueddeke, Enrollment Manager for the MIIS policy programs.

“Monterey is a wonderful place for veterans.  We have an active and supportive military community here with neighbors like the Defense Language Institute and the Naval Postgraduate School, ” noted Enrollment Manager Rob Horgan.  “This is a life altering opportunity for veterans to transition into engaging civilian careers.” he said.

Although still in the early stages, the Monterey Institute has already processed over a half dozen qualified candidates.  Some of these veterans will be joining the incoming class this Fall.
