This symbol takes the shape of the letters V, I, C, T, O, and R arranged in a stylized fashion. The symbol has had two very different meanings. The first is its use to commemorate students receiving the doctorate degree in many Spanish and Latin American universities. The second meaning that is more relevant to Origin is the use of this sign as a symbol of the nationalists’ victory in the war, after the Spanish Civil War, and it came to be used as a personal emblem for the dictator Francisco Franco.
“El Pais” literally translates to “The Country” in English. It is the most circulated daily newspaper in Spain.
