We are actively seeking enthusiastic and committed Midd students to join our board!

Are you new to NOM? That’s okay!

Is this your first semester? That’s okay!

Don’t know what the NOM board does? That’s okay! We’ll train you and make the transition as smooth as can be.

The time commitment is flexible and varies by position (see below) but involves communicating with the other board members, being available for some volunteering once a month and helping with preparation for volunteer group events about twice a semester.

Current Board Position Descriptions

President

    • Maintain nom@middlebury.edu account
    • Notify all NOM members of volunteer opportunities and events via email
    • Communicate with SCB
    • Communicate with community partners
    • Hold weekly office hours (2 hrs/week at CCE) and liaise with CCE Assistant Director
    • Submit events to the SGA weekly activities email, to the SCB activities calendar and to the Community Engagement weekly email
    • Reserve rooms for meetings and events
    • Attend monthly Service Cluster Board meetings
    • Attend NOM board meetings
    • Plan and lead, or designate leaders, for NOM board meetings and volunteer meetings
    • Call elections and facilitate leadership transitions
    • Compose agenda for meetings
  • Estimated time commitment: 4-6 hours/week (2 hours in the office, 1 hour for NOM board meetings (when applicable), 1 hour for SCB meetings, ~2 hours coordinating taste tests and/or other events)

Treasurer

    • Inform members how to buy supplies with NOM budget
    • Collect and turn in all receipts every month
    • Update the ledger
    • Attend monthly Service Cluster Board meetings
    • Attend NOM board meetings
    • Report at meetings
    • Fulfill SCB Treasurer responsibilities, including Treasurer Training, Handbook Quiz, and signing off for responsibility of excess financial spending
  • Estimated time commitment: 2-3 hours/month (1-2 hours for NOM board meetings and/or SCB meetings, 1 hour for voucher submissions and updating leger)

Secretary

    • Take meeting notes
    • Count and record members present at each meeting for service hours
    • Turn in monthly service hours via SCB in second sheet of NOM Accounting Leger Google Workbook
    • Assist writing updates if needed
    • Attend NOM board meetings
    • Possibly attend monthly Service Cluster Board meetings
    • Report at meetings
  • Estimated time commitment: 2-3 hours/month (1-2 hours for NOM board meetings and/or SCB meetings, 1 hour for updating monthly service hours and other responsibilities)

Recruitment and Publicity Chair

    • Plan and coordinate advertising for NOM events
    • Recruit new volunteers for NOM events
    • Create monthly taste test result poster to be displayed at Mary Hogan
    • Print via plotter printer the monthly results posters and ensure delivery to Mary Hogan
    • Help maintain website and online presence
    • Attend NOM board meetings
    • Possibly attend Service Cluster Board meetings
  • Estimated time commitment: 3-4 hours/month (1-2 hours for NOM board meetings and/or SCB meetings, 2 hours for poster creation, printing, and delivery to Mary Hogan)

Volunteer Coordinator

    • Communicate with students interested in volunteering at NOM events regarding transportation and any questions they may have
    • Ensure coverage for all volunteer events
    • Report to president regarding volunteer coverage and transportation needs
    • Attend NOM board meetings
    • Possibly attend monthly Service Cluster Board meetings
    • Report at meetings
  • Estimated time commitment: 3-4 hours/month (1-2 hours for NOM board meetings and/or SCB meetings, 2 hours for communication with volunteers)
