Join us for the Spring Break 2013: Forum and Networking Mixer, on Thursday, April 25.  Representatives from the Cuba, Washington D.C., New York UN and China / Taiwan group Spring Break trips will participate in a lively panel discussion, followed by a networking reception with wine and hors d’oeuvres. Stop by the Digital Learning Commons at 420 Calle Principal to learn about the exciting Spring Break adventures of your classmates and enjoy some refreshments!

Do you have or are you looking to develop your communication and facilitation skills?  If you answered “Yes!” to any of these questions, then you just might be interested in working with (not for) the Digital Learning Commons during your academic tenure at the Monterey Institute.

The DLC has a vacancy for one Digital Media Consultant for current (preferably first year students with GIS experience) graduate students to complement our current team.

We enjoyed your company in celebrating our location, new plant wall and design thinking space.

Please feel free to come back any time to work on project or just to come and become inspired!  At the DLC we promote creativity and reflection, while assisting the entire MIIS community in the development of projects. Through peer-driven teaching and learning, we encourage innovation and seek to create opportunities for discovery and collaboration within and beyond our communities of practice. The uniqueness of our space cultivates an engaging and collaborative environment for brainstorming and networking.

Professor Jan Black & her students say hello from Cuba, where they studied economic and social development issues.

Join us for the next MIIS Tales event, titled “Spring Break 2013: Forum and Reception”, on Wednesday, April 17.  Representatives from the Cuba trip, New York UN trip, Washington D.C Networking trip and the China group will participate in a panel discussion followed by a networking reception.  The event will take place at the Digital Learning Commons from 5:30-7:30 pm. Stop by the new DLC space to hear about the exciting Spring Break adventures and insights of your fellow classmates.

MIIS Tales is an effort to document and share stories from the remarkably diverse group of people that learn within, interact with, and deeply shape the MIIS community. Further, it aspires to embed a culture of storytelling and empathy into our fabric that profoundly unites us beyond our short time here.

MIIS Tales is the brainchild of current students Nan Liu and Karla Micheli, inspired by the projects, classes, and, most importantly, the people they met during their first semester at MIIS.
