Steve Pifer will visit the Institute on March 24 as part of the Spring 2014 Colloquium Speaker Series
Steve Pifer who is the director of the Arms Control and Non-Proliferation Initiative at the Brookings Institute will offer a guest lecture open to the public in Irvine auditorium on March 24, 5-8pm. Mr. Pifer will offer expert insights focused on the current nature of Eurasian diplomacy and statecraft.
Steve Pifer spent more than 25 years serving in the State Department with the bulk of his work focusing on U.S. relations with the former Soviet Union and Europe, as well as arms control and security issues. He has held postings in Kyiv (Kiev), London, Moscow, Geneva and Warsaw as well as on the National Security Council. Pifer is a visiting fellow at the Brookings Institution’s Center on the United States and Europe. He is also a non-resident senior adviser with the Center for Strategic & International Studies. Pifer has spoken on CNN, CBS, Fox News, MSNBC, CNBC, BBC, National Public Radio and VOA, and his articles have appeared in the Washington Post, International Herald Tribune and Boston Globe, among others.
