NPTS professor and MonTREP senior researcher Jeff Bale has published an article in the October 2013 issue of Perspectives on Terrorism – the number one online journal in the field of Terrorism Studies – entitled “Denying the Link between Islamist Ideology and Jihadist Terrorism: ‘Political Correctness’ and the Undermining of Counterterrorism.” The article is critical of the ongoing refusal of Western political, academic, and media elites to take the core ideological beliefs of the West’s Islamist adversaries seriously, and documents the pernicious and growing influence of activists associated with Islamist front organizations on Western counterterrorist policies.
