After entering the NESCAC conference, Middlebury played Amherst, Bates, Bowdoin, Colby, Hamilton, Trinity, Tufts, Williams, and Wesleyan in numerous sports. While each sports may have developed its own rivalries, Middlebury’s participation in the conference has allowed a historical, healthy, and friendly competitive atmosphere to emerge among these colleges over the past 40 years.
Roy Hafferman, one of the best halfbacks to attend Middlebury, runs through numerous missed tackles in a 1977 game and 20-6 victory over Trinity College.

No surprise here as a tireless Middlebury Women’s Cross Country runner takes the lead in her 1979 race, trailed by Colby, Williams and Wesleyan.
