Just a reminder, we will be having a Brown Bag Lunch meeting on Thursday, February 5th from 12:00-2:00 pm in B105.

The Brown Bag Lunch will be a great opportunity to speak with your mentor/mentee as well as other MAP participants. We will also do some training and planning at the event.  Please remember to bring your lunch! I will provide the dessert.

Dear Spring 2009 MAP Peer Mentors,

Happy Holidays! I hope you are all having a good holiday so far.  Here is an update on the progress of our Spring 2009 MAP Peer Mentor Program. We currently have 21 mentors on board.

As mentioned before, I’ve extended the mentor application deadline until January 9, 2009. Please feel free to pass on the link to the mentor application(http://www.miis.edu/saffairs_map_mentor.html) to anyone you know who might be interested in applying!

I will be beginning the recruiting process for mentees and plan to send you your matches during the week before spring classes begin. Also, we will have a training meeting/pizza social during the first week of classes. I will email more details about this at a later date.

 Unfortunately, due to the low number of Yes RSVPS for the MAP Program Game Night that is scheduled  for tomorrow, Friday, December 5^th, I have decided to cancel and postpone this event until next semester.  Thank you for your understanding and  to everyone who RSVPed!

Also, I wanted to mention that even though the December 1^st deadline for applying to be a MAP peer mentor for Spring 2009 has passed, I will still be taking mentor applications until early January. If you are interested in being a mentor for Spring 2009, please apply online at http://www.miis.edu/saffairs_map_mentor.html.

As a reminder, please remember to contact your mentor/mentee one more time before the holidays. Sometime after finals I will also be sending out an evaluation link via email to get  your feedback on the Fall 2008 MAP Peer Mentor Program.

I’ve recently learned from the MIIS Student Council that tickets for the upcoming MIIS Halloween Party will now be on sale at the Samson Student Center every Tuesday and Thursday (and some Fridays) from 12-2 pm.

The Halloween party will be held on October 31st from 7-12 pm at Adventures by the Sea. Tickets cost $10. Please stop by the Samson Student Center to purchase your Halloween party ticket!

Also, some of you mentioned at the Brown Bag Lunch Meeting that you might be interested in meeting up with other MAP participants before the Halloween Party. If you are interested in meeting before the party, please let me know via email and I will help get the word out to other MAP participants! 🙂 -Gail

For our upcoming social events, due to busy schedules and other events happening on campus, I think it would be best to postpone having a MAP panel discussion until next semester (Spring 2009). Same goes for off campus events as they will require more careful planning.  For the off campus events that were suggested, whenever possible I will try to send out related information so that mentor/mentee pairs and friends can go on their own. MAP Program Participants, if you have more suggestions or information about events that you’d like to share, please let me know by commenting here or sending me an email.

As for on-campus events, I am working on planning and scheduling some of the events that were suggested during our brown bag lunch meeting.  More information about these events and when we will be having them will be coming soon!  -Gail 🙂

Just a reminder, the MAP program will be having a MAP Program brown bag lunch on Tuesday, September 9th from 12:00-1:00 pm in Casa Fuente room CF434. This will be a great opportunity to speak with your mentor/mentee as well as other MAP participants.

The agenda for this lunch time meeting will be to meet and greet each other as well as brainstorm future MAP program social events and activities. We will take a group photo for our program webpage and discuss the blog that I have created for the program as well. Looking forward to seeing you there! 🙂

💡 In terms of training, the MAP program trainings will be made available this Friday, September 5^th. More details about where to access the trainings will be sent out via email this Friday.
