Here you will find links to teaching materials I have created using different technology platforms.
Desmos Materials
In place of graphing calculators, students in my Calculus 1 and 2 courses use Desmos. Below you will find links to a small sample of Desmos materials I have used in my courses.
- Collection of Desmos Activities for Single Variable Calculus: This links to my public collection of Desmos activities on various topics in first and second semester calculus.
- Interactive graph of an integral function: This template illustrates the relationship between an integral function and its integrand.
- Animation of limit definition of convergence: This template animates the limit definition of a convergent sequence using a number line plot.
- Animation of Power Series Convergence Template: This desmos template animates the convergence of a power series.
- Animation of Taylor Series Template: Similar to the above template, this animates the convergence of a Taylor Series by successively plotting Taylor Polynomials.
MATLAB Materials
Below is a link to an activity contributed to MathWorks’ Teaching Computation with MATLAB website, which houses a repository of Teaching Materials.
- Illustrating Theorems from Calculus: In this activity, students use MATLAB to create and interact with illustrations of three theorems from Calculus: (1) Extreme Value Theorem, (2) Intermediate Value Theorem, and (3) Mean Value Theorem. The assignment reinforces the graphical interpretation of these theorems while teaching and reinforcing the basics of creating arrays, plots, and tables in MATLAB. Students also experiment with using MATLAB to find extremal values in an array and with finding roots of an equation.
