Evaluating Administrators: According to the Faculty Handbook, faculty have the right to evaluate their administrators. The due date for evaluation is April 30th. In preparation of drafting the document, William asked Kent Glenzer for a copy of the 360-evaluation he sent out when he was dean, and William located several examples of dean reviews from other universities. William will work on creating a first draft of this document.

New Evaluation Categories: It was brought to the Senate’s attention by Heekyeong Lee, FEC co-chair, that many faculty are unaware that the new Faculty Activity Review (FAR) categories are in effect, and she suggests a reminder be sent. Senate will work on finalizing the category rubric over spring break and will send an email to program chairs with the rubric to gather feedback, and have them remind their faculty about the new evaluation categories.

Faculty Handbook: The Handbook is still in need of clarification and repair. Thor would like the Senate to work on updating and correcting the Faculty Handbook and will assign sections to each Senator for review. The Senate will also solicit feedback from FEC and APSIC on their specific handbook sections.

Workforce Planning: Thor states he met with Vice President Dayton-Johnson to discuss some of the calculations used by the Institute Council during the Workforce Planning/ISP process. Vice President Dayton-Johnson was asked to send a communication to faculty about the process. Thor also states that if your ISP is accepted, it is a contract and you have to teach out the 2019/2020 academic year to collect. This allows Middlebury to plan for advising, enrollment, etc. If you leave before the end of the academic year you forfeit your separation package.
