Summer intern: Program Assistant for City First Homes

City First Homes (www.cfhomes.org), a large scale start-up social venture and nonprofit that aims to make a transformative impact on the District’s, and the nation’s, affordable housing sector. We are sponsored in part by the Washington, DC government. We have an internship opening for a Program Assistant this summer in Washington, DC. This position will provide college-level students with excellent exposure to the community development sector and valuable work experience at entrepreneurial non-profit organizations. The Program Assistant supports the operations and administration of the affordable housing trust, and helps to move our organizations forward.

CFHomes represents a large scale solution to the growing workforce housing challenge in D.C. and a model that may be replicated nationwide. CFHomes leverages public and private funds to create and finance an innovative shared-appreciation solution that enables families to obtain homes now and for generations to come. CFHomes manages a fund that provides a low rate second mortgage of up to $75,000-per-unit to create permanently affordable workforce housing in the District. In exchange for the subsidy (a low rate second mortgage), home buyers agree to share the appreciation in the unit so future families will also be able to afford the units without requiring additional subsidy. CFHomes has been featured in the Washington Post, on NPR, and in numerous case studies. To learn more about our approach, please visit: http://www.cfhomes.org/cgi-bin/CFH?s=about&e=2
