The Ambassador Corps program offers an entry point for a meaningful career by way of internship opportunities with non-profit, micro-finance, governmental or private organizations. The Ambassador Corps is an intensive three-month summer internship that is specifically designed to provide Middlebury College, Institute and Schools Abroad students a unique frontlines work experience premier social entrepreneurship organizations in developing countries.

Ambassador Corps internship assignments focus on microfinance, sustainable agriculture, human trafficking, social justice, environmental conservation, eco-tourism, youth entrepreneurship, women’s empowerment, disaster relief/development, public health and disease eradication, sustainable education, community-based engineering projects, and business planning for social enterprises and NGOs.

Each summer, the “Ambassadors” complete an intensive one-week cross cultural training program before departing on 1-3 month internships in various regions around the world, including Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe.

Without a significant, serious and immediate increase in diversity and inclusion, the conservation community will become a movement of the past instead of a guiding principle of the future. The Doris Duke Conservation Scholars Program at the University of Washington is a multi-summer, undergraduate experiential-learning program focused on the themes of biodiversity, food, climate, and water across urban and wild spaces.

Last summer, two dozen stellar freshmen and sophomores from all over the country — and diverse along all axes: race, ethnicity, socio-economics, area of study — gathered in WA for this immersion/field-based course. They traveled all over the state and addressed a range of conservation issues through a variety of ecological and social science lenses. The overarching theme? How we can best grow an inclusive and diverse conservation movement.

Stewards interact with visitors at boat ramps and perform watercraft inspections intended to prevent the transport of AIS. The AWISP also fulfills research and service functions. Entrepreneurs, regional capital providers and business service providers come together at this annual event in Middlebury. On Nov 6 from 8:30-2:30 Financing the Working Landscape aims to:

  • Introduce entrepreneurs to local capital providers and business service providers
  • Educate business owners and entrepreneurs about how to prepare for capitalization
  • Catalyze opportunities for all participants through networking and “elevator” pitches

“Wild Gift selects budding social entrepreneurs, take them on a deep wilderness trip, and give them startup capital ($10,000) and expert mentorship to accelerate their idea. THEY DO THE REST.

Every year Wild Gift recruits outstanding new leaders to its Network of better-world entrepreneurs through an intensive application process. I am pleased to inform you that we have begun to accept applications for the 2015 class. Through a rigorous application process, we recruit dynamic young individuals (ages 21-35) with innovative, entrepreneurial ideas. Successful applicants exhibit a deep passion and commitment to wilderness and sustainability and the capacity to bring better world projects to fruition. The MiddView program is seeking Middlebury students who are involved in student organizations on campus, so they can share with first year students their own experience of getting involved.  Ideally, they can place student organization leaders on trips that could potentially connect with the mission and objective of their student organization, so leaders can make connections with first year students interested in similar topics as their organizations.  There are 3 trip types to choose from including Community Engagement Trips, Vermont Explorations Trips and Wilderness Explorations Trips.  See what kind of trips we ran last year here!  Apply to be MiddView Trip Leaders here!

The Fund for the Public Interest is a national non-profit organization that works to build support for progressive organizations across the country. Fund for the Public Interest  runs campaigns for USPIRG, Environment America, the Human Rights Campaign, and Environmental Action. Currently, there are paid positions open on campaign staff in each of the organization locations. 

Strong candidates are hard workers and have excellent communication skills. As a member of Fund for the Public Interest staff, you will fund raise, build membership for our partner groups, and educate and activate citizens on pressing issues. You will also have the opportunity to organize press conferences and build coalitions with other non-profit organizations. Positions are open to all classes. The pay rate is $9-15/hr (varies by location).
