A Moment

Through voice and silence, producer Sierra Jackson captures an intimate conversation between four Middlebury students as they wrestle with the idea of race, question the limitations of language, and analyze how they are caught in limbo when discussing each. The students were away at the Black Life Matters Conference in Arizona when this conversation took place; where intersecting identities stressed the need for the proclamation of all Black life mattering. This piece isn’t to serve as a reiteration of the Conference’s key points, rather a glimpse at how young people are discussing and understanding race, language, and other systems of oppression.
