Midd Alum Offering Financial Inclusion Internship in Madagascar

Middlebury alumna, Elizabeth Toder ’90, who has spent several J-Terms teaching a class called “Extending Financial Services to the Unbanked,” which explored microfinance, microinsurance and the use of technology to achieve financial inclusion in developing countries, is now generously offering a summer internship to work with her on this very issue.  She is now a Resident Banking Advisor for the U.S. Department of Treasury working in Madagascar with their Ministry of Finance on developing microinsurance products with the 25+ MFIs in the region. She has posted to Handshake a 10-week Financial Inclusion Internship, which is CCI-sponsored, working with her in Madagascar on this project and is seeking students who might have the right qualifications: French speakers, those studying/interested in development economics, and are juniors or senior Febs. (seniors can apply but will not get the CCI-sponsored funding, however, the employer is providing housing and stipend for local transportation).
