Democracy or Depravity?

Is the rise of “confessionals” simply a function the inherent depravity of college culture? Could ‘confessionals’ signify the emergence of a new interface for collective action?

  1. I found this to be a very interesting post on M.C.

I can’t stand how disrespectful Midd students can be. Last week, facilities workers posted temporary “fences” to keep people from walking on areas where they are trying to grow back the grass, and after a weekend of being drunk, students have ripped half of them down.

It’s more than that, though. I don’t understand how students can get up from a table in the dining hall and leave things behind. Students get upset about not having juice at dinner, but have no problem leaving their mess for someone else to clean.

Lastly, try thanking the various staff members you encounter throughout the day: dining hall cooks, custodians, etc. At the very least, say “hi!”

However, we are at our little 2,400 student college on a hill… Chances are, when you’re pointing the finger, perhaps you might also look at yourself before you come to the discussion table. I can already think of 90 % of my friends who would dismiss this post if it ever came in an email. If it’s just venting cool, but if you’re trying to change something. . .Present both sides of the story.

  3. And One More…..

I don’t care if there is cheap beer. Pub Night is a total failure because of how insanely LOUD they insist the band be. How can we get them to CHANGE this?

I am getting depressed reading the confessional.
