New acquisitions lists in MIDCAT

I miss the old way that MIDCAT organized the ‘new acquisitions’ lists by the month. The new format, with the covers of the various library acquisitions, looks nice but it’s not very useful for browsing. I think it would be very handy to be able to sort the list by acquisition type — e.g, book, DVD, music CD, score, map, etc.

Late fees

Instead of charging for printing, the LIS should introduce late fees for every day a book or a CD is overdue. Apart from generating money, it will teach the students responsibility. It is very frustrating when you need the book, but someone can’t return it on time.

Bring back book retrieval

Please bring back that service where you can request book/cds online from other Middlebury libraries and then simply pick them up from the one closest to you . I was really able to utilize that for the music library because I rarely have the opportunity to go down there. It was such a great service…I really hate to see it go
