Summer ILL Hours – Abridged

Summer hours - ILL

Dear ILL Patrons: The ILL Department is currently experiencing a staffing shortage, and we apologize in advance if it takes somewhat longer than usual to process your orders, especially over weekends.  We expect this to continue for the remainder of the summer, so if you have interlibrary loan needs, please try to give us as much lead time as you possibly can to fulfill your requests.

Our normal hours will continue as usual, with the exception of Monday, Aug. 6, when we will be closed for the day.  Thank you for your understanding and please continue to submit new ILL requests!  We will continue to fulfill them as quickly and thoroughly as we possibly can!

Experience the Library in Your Language

We have a library guide for every language program this summer, from Spanish, to Hebrew to Experience the library in your languageChinese and more. Browse a complete list of subjects here.

Every guide is carefully curated  by a Middlebury librarian. You’ll find links to lists of in-language books, search tips, and answers to questions that are commonly asked by students studying your language.

Most importantly,  you’ll find contact information for a librarian who can help you find exactly what you need. Use the “Schedule Appointment” button, or send an email, to sign up for a one-on-one research consultation with your language librarian. If we can talk with you about what you’re working on, we can ensure you’re getting exactly what you need.

Find your favorite research guide at go.middlebury.edu/guides.

Welcome back, alumni! Never stop learning.

Welcome back to the libraries, alumni! We know that even though you’ve graduated, you’ll never stop learning. We want to be sure you’re aware that  the scholarly journals in JSTOR and Project Muse are available to you. After signing up for a Midd alumni Never stop learningaccount, you can use JSTOR and Project Muse from anywhere. For more information including instructions on how to sign up, see How do I get Alumni Access to JSTOR and Project Muse?

We hope you enjoy reunion! Here are a few tips to welcome you back to the libraries.

Computers and  Library Databases

Use our computers and library databases while you’re here in the library! Just ask for a guest username and password at the front desk. (Or, for quick a email inbox check, look for the computers that are already logged in on the main level of both libraries.)

Wireless

To connect your phone or other device to the wireless network, create a guest account by following the instructions here: Get started with wireless.

Borrowing, printing and more

You may also find our information (including borrowing privileges and printing advice) for guest and alumni patrons useful: Guests and Visitors to the College.

Just for fun

We put the yearbooks out for you this weekend. Find yours! They’re all on display in the atrium of the Davis Family Library.

ECHO Pass available at the Davis Family Library

Looking for something to do with your kids now that they’re free for the summer?  Take them to the ECHO Center in Burlington!  The library has a pass that allows for $7 admission for each guest (up to 4 max).  Regular admission prices are $11.50 for kids and $14.50 for adults.  The pass is available for checkout at the circulation desk to all college faculty, staff, and students for three-day loan.

How to use library databases from off campus

Going away this summer? Take the library with you! Take the library with you

You can search library databases from off campus. Just start at the library site: go.middlebury.edu/lib.  From there, JSTOR, ebooks, audiobooks, Summon and all of our online journals, magazines and newspapers are available to you…no matter where you are!

When you’re off campus, links that are on library web pages (a few examples of library web pages include Research GuidesSummon and the Journals list) will ask you to log in with Midd credentials. It’s as easy as that!

Seniors: Here’s how to get alumni access to library databases!

Enjoy the summer!
