My name is Yun-Hsiang Tan (Jonathan) from Taiwan, and I’m a Conference Interpretation student here at MIIS in Chinese and English as my A/B languages. I call Taipei my home, it’s where I’ve was born and raised. I’m also very fortunate to have lived in other places before, including Chicago for 6 years when I was in elementary school, India for a few months as a volunteer, and also Singapore, where I was an exchange student at NUS during my senior year of university.
I graduated from National Taiwan University last September with a major in International Business, but I knew that I wanted a career that could use languages to break down barriers and provide solutions, so here I am at MIIS pursuing that goal! Prior to graduate school, I was a product design intern at the largest online English learning website in Taiwan. I also worked as a freelance subtitle translator, with a specialty in reality tv shows and crime/drug investigation series.
MIIS has an incredible Localization Management program, and I believe my past translation and business experience combined with the practical hands-on training at the institute will strengthen my skills in localization management and provide clients with satisfactory projects.
