I was born and raised in Ensenada, Baja California in Mexico. Grew up bilingual and moved to San Diego at age 16. Translation and interpretation have always been part of what I do. I have worked for different schools in positions that required I translated and interpreted.
I started working as a Spanish interpreter for the Special Education Department at the Escondido High School District shortly after graduating from my first Master’s (Romance languages). At EUHSD I applied the knowledge I had acquired of the industry through school, work, and attending the ATA conferences. I have been a member of the ATA since 2011 and a member of CHIA since 2014. I got EUHSD to purchase memoQ for me and still use it to translate their documents. I am currently not their interpreter anymore as I had to leave to be able to move to Monterey to enroll in the MATI program.
At MIIS I’ve been sharpening my skills on Trados and other CAT tools.
