Kristen Morgenstern (interviewer & narrator)

Hi! I’m a Middlebury student & Kolot member from Queens, New York. I am a double major in history and theatre. I am an aspiring Yiddishist and hope to one day be fluent. I study Jewish history in America and the Jewish secular identity detached from zionism. I am particularly interested in studying Jewish history as it intersects with Queer and Feminist histories. I became a member of Kolot in the spring of 2022. My favorite parts of Kolot are Lisa’s singing and the Tallis Tree of course! I am a trained theatre maker and I have been acting my whole life. I hope to participate in the tradition of Yiddish theatre and incorporate more elements of Jewish identity and history into my work. At Middlebury, I am on the equestrian team and a member of the tap dancing troupe. I am the co-president of Middlebury MothUp, a storytelling organization that hosts monthly events where students, faculty, and community members share their personal stories. My interests in theatre and history come together with my passion for storytelling and I am interested in discussing ethical storytelling practices, preservation of storytelling, and different creative forms that bring storytelling to life. I am very passionate about oral history, Kolot, feminism, and Jewish studies 🙂
