Currently in the midst of another experience in International Education, the more familiar I become with this domain, the more passionate about it I am! My international education journey began long ago and is far from over. I attended an international school, began learning Spanish in kindergarten and French at age 8. After about 10 years of learning French in school and at home, I chose both my university and major keeping in mind my strong desire to study abroad in a French speaking country. I spent a year directly enrolled in Université Lumière Lyon II in Lyon, France. This year changed my life and really made me think seriously about a career in international education. Fresh from my year in France, I returned to Tulane University and began working as a Peer Advisor for the Tulane Office of Study Abroad (OSA). After learning the ins and outs of almost all our French language programs, I assisted students in the whole process: from choosing the right program, to the application, to the pre-departure preparation. I loved every minute of it. In October 2012, I began preparing and teaching English lessons to children in grades K through 12, as a part of the Teaching Assistant Program in France (TAPIF).
In the International Education Management Master’s (MAIEM) program at the Monterey Institute of International Studies (MIIS), I took courses such as: Marketing and Recruitment of international Students, Budgeting in Higher Education, Developing Intercultural Training in Organizations, Program Design and Assessment, and Comparative Education. This new Master’s program has given me practical and applicable knowledge and skills for my career in International Education. This blog is a space for me to showcase projects relevant to this field, from both my graduate coursework and previous professional work. Check it out!
