Karl Lindholm
At Middlebury College, Karl Lindholm was a Master Jack-of-all-Trades, serving for a long time in a variety of roles. He graduated from Middlebury in 1967, taught high school for eight years, then came back to the College to work in the Dean of Students Office in 1976. He was a Dean or a Faculty Head in all five of Middlebury’s residential commons. He has a doctorate in American Studies and a special interest in baseball and American culture (baseball’s Negro leagues, in particular), the Vietnam War, and the literature and culture of northern New England. He retired from full-time work at Middlebury in 2010, but continues to teach in the American Studies Program. He is engaged now in a variety of long writing projects, in various states of completion.
This website acknowledges his writing: his sports column in the local paper, the Addison Independent; his work on William Clarence Matthews, early black baseball player and political figure; his writing on the Vietnam War; his book on the Poland Spring Caddy Camp; and other writing.
