I’m intrigued by snow-related weather processes, from nivation to avalanching, and think that the development of new technologies will enable new lines of research on these topics. I’m experimenting with long-term environmental time-lapse photography as a tool for monitoring snow-related processes in remote mountain environments. My first year of this work led to a paper on cornice-fall avalanches in the journal Cold Regions Science and Technology.
Here is an example of a pair of before/after photos from my first camera deployment, monitoring cornice-fall avalanches.
